Munchies: Bacon Flavored Vodka

I guess the phrase “Everything tastes better with bacon” is getting placed in a whole new level. I’ll claim my stake in this with a drink I’ve made up…

The Fat White Russian’s Breakfast

- 2 parts Bakon Vodka

- 1 part coffee liquor

- 1 oz. light cream

- 1 egg

- 1/2 oz. maple syrup

- whipped cream

- nutmeg and cinnamon sprinkled on top

Munchies: Chocolate Covered Bacon Maple Bar Donut

This looks like a poor man’s version of the Bacon Maple Donut from Dynamo in Frisco. I heard that donut was amazing, the saltiness of the bacon and the sweetness of the maple made a perfect combination. The twist on this (besides it being a poor mans version) is the chocolate drizzled over the top that I think might make it a little too sweet. I guess everything does taste better with bacon, check out this bacon/ chocolate bar.

Would you try this???

From scratch

blt

I love BLT’s, I think they’re one of the most superlative sandwiches no matter what kind of bacon, lettuce and tomatoes you use. But here’s what happens when you get a professional writer/ food lover (Michael Ruhlman) to make one from scratch. The tomatoes and lettuce are home grown, mayo and bread are made fresh and the bacon/ pork belly was cooked in the oven (200 degrees) for 3-4 hours then crisped to perfection in a frying pan. Definitely got inspired to make my own bacon after seeing this picture.

BLT

Everyone has their own way of making a BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato) sandwich, but I want you all to know right now mine is the SHIT! If you don’t believe me you can come over anytime and I’ll happily prepare one and eat it in front of you.

A couple of main things besides having good quality ingredients are-

1. Making sure the bacon is CRUNCHY. I hate when I take a bite and the whole slice of bacon comes out. To help get that crunch without burning it throw em in a pre heated oven (450 degrees for around 10 minutes) but if you’re lazy wrap em in paper towels and throw it in the microwave for a minute each slice.

2. Toast your bread. I usually try to almost burn my toast with a heavy helping of mayo on each side. If you dont care about being fat and happy on the other side of the bread spread some butter.

3. After you slice your tomatoes sprinkle em with a little pepper.

4. Add ons- A BLT is perfect how it is, the one pictured above has cilantro. Of course you can add avocado (yeeo), cheese,  red onion, cucumber, etc. The list goes on.

Enjoy!
